Clear answers for choosing, installing and using a travel eSIM—without the telecom jargon.

01

Before buying

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM built into supported phones. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you install a mobile-data profile using a QR code.

Will my phone work?

Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Check the Compatibility page and confirm that your settings include an Add eSIM option.

Can I keep my normal number?

Yes. Keep your regular SIM active for calls and messages, while eSIM Sonic supplies travel data. Your WhatsApp number also stays the same.

02

Installing

When should I install it?

Install over reliable Wi-Fi before departure. Keep the travel eSIM switched off until you arrive, unless your plan instructions say otherwise.

Can I scan the QR on the same phone?

Many newer phones support direct installation from a saved QR image. If yours does not, display the QR on another screen or use the manual activation details.

Can the QR be used twice?

Usually not. An eSIM profile is generally installed once on one compatible device, so do not delete it until your trip and plan are finished.

03

Using your data

When does validity begin?

Validity normally begins when the eSIM first connects to a supported network at your destination. The destination page and delivery email contain the route-specific details.

Should data roaming be on?

Yes—enable data roaming for the eSIM Sonic line. You can leave roaming disabled on your regular SIM to avoid carrier roaming charges.

Can I use hotspot?

Hotspot and tethering are available when the selected destination plan says they are supported. Your connected devices use the same data allowance.

Troubleshooting

I landed but have no connection

Choose eSIM Sonic for mobile data, enable roaming, toggle airplane mode, and restart the phone. If needed, select one of the supported networks manually.

How do I check remaining data?

Usage visibility depends on the underlying network and plan. Your phone’s mobile-data counter is a useful backup, and support can help trace an active order.

What should I send support?

Include your order number, destination, phone model and a screenshot of the eSIM settings. Never send a full payment-card number.
